Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Footwear Apprentice to join our team for a three-month unpaid apprenticeship. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in the art of shoemaking. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will be involved in various tasks that will help you develop essential skills in footwear production.
Key Tasks
Last and leather preparation
Basic cutting of materials
Basic sewing techniques
Lasting processes
Shoe finishing and polishing
Basic pattern manipulation
Shop maintenance
Basic administrative tasks
Qualifications
A valid driver's license is preferred but not essential.
A Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design is an asset.
Candidates should submit a resume, two references, and a portfolio showcasing their manual and work in leather is an asset for being considered.
Compensation
While this is an unpaid internship, you will gain valuable education in shoemaking.
Lunch will be provided on Fridays.
Potential for Employment
At the end of the 3-month apprenticeship, there may be a possibility of employment if you demonstrate sufficient skills and competence to manage a position as a Footwear Making Associate. This will be determined through a review of your apprenticeship performance and an examination.
